Good Practice Case Studies - Crown Estate Scotland & Highlands and Islands Enterprise

04 September 2026

The Ethical Standards Commissioner has published two new good practice case studies.  These case studies are intended to support selection panels and everyone involved in the appointments process by highlighting effective planning and assessment methods, effective panel collaboration and examples of good practice during the appointments process.  They provide practical examples to help those involved understand what has worked well in different appointment rounds, with the aim of achieving the best possible outcome.

Responding to the publications, Ian Bruce, the Ethical Standards Commissioner, said:

“These two case studies are valuable additions to our good practice collection, showing how careful planning, clear ministerial engagement and robust assessment can support high quality outcomes in public appointments.  By sharing examples of what worked well, we can help panels learn from successful rounds and continue to strengthen confidence in the appointments process.”
