Making a complaint about Public Appointments - Easy Read
27 March 2026
The Ethical Standards Commissioner has published a new Easy Read version of our public appointments complaints process. This is designed to make our work clearer and more accessible to everyone. This accessible format uses plain language and supportive visuals to help people understand how to raise a complaint about a public appointment, and about what happens next. By offering this resource we want to make sure that people can navigate the process confidently, and engage with our work on fair and transparent public appointments.
Responding to the publication, Ian Bruce, the Ethical Standards Commissioner, said:
"Everyone should be able to understand how to raise a concern with us, and ensuring that our processes are accessible to everyone is fundamental to how we operate. Providing clear and accessible information about the complaints process helps remove barriers and support greater public confidence in how public appointments are regulated. This Easy Read version strengthens that commitment by helping people understand their rights and engage with our work confidently. It's an important step in making our website, and our office, more open, transparent and inclusive."
