In some circumstances, it can currently take up to 5 months to conduct an initial assessment for some complaints, particularly if they are complex. We are doing everything we can to reduce this time. The core skills framework for chair and member appointments, was designed in partnership with the Scottish Government in April 2016.  It has since been updated by the Scottish Government with an up to date version written in September 2022, and a complementary version written to explain use of the framework to applicants in November 2020.
